The
career of a great chef
Gerard’s
career began in the “Hostellerie du Chateau” in Fer en Tardenois.
Following this he was cooking at the “Hotel Byblos” in St. Tropez,
after this place he came to the restaurant “Du Cheval blanc” in Sept
Sauz and to the “Hostellerie la Chaumière” in Reims and to the
Restaurant “Les Santons” in Grimaud. All these restaurants are in
the famous Guide Michelin and known for her exqusite food. During his
millitary service, he cooked at the “Palais de Elysée” for the
french gouvernment and became, after the military service, for one year
the personal chef to Francois Mitterand, the French President. After
this he cooked at the restaurant “La Mere blanc” with George Blanc
in Vonnas before becoming free lance with the restaurant “Europa
Plage” in St. Tropez.
A wifes influence on a great chef
One
has to imagine it. A higly decorated chef is a well sought after man in
France.
The family often falls short. Veronique’s wish though was for
her family’s happiness and that in peaceful, beautiful surrounding.
Hence one dared the big adventure and began far away from all the high
chef
hats a new chapter in life. That is how the Doninican Republic
won over one of the best chefs of France.
What
does a great chef do on a caribean island ?
Of
course he cooks in the french manner. He creates with the products of
the coutry appealing and delicious results, not an easy task. He has
managed to rebuild a phantastic reputation for himself here too. With
his family he enjoys the somewhat quieter life at the Playa Bonita. Why
